A helluva year, TLDR, I made a new website.

My 3 yr old took this pic tonight with her new Polaroid while I was finishing the website. :)

It’s been a crazy year. I launched thisyearning.com in November of 2018, focusing on creating bespoke experiences to recreate feelings of saudade. I made an experience for my mom. It was wonderful.

A friend asked me to create an experience for a major transition in her life. I was honored to do so and it was an important moment in both of our lives.

A rando on FB (the handsome Matt Rosenblum) mentioned he had a new venue (The Tiny Cupboard) and wanted to open it up to immersive groups. I jumped at the chance. A free venue in NYC. My bespoke saudade adventure work was amazing and tremendously satisfying but an enormous time investment and I have very little time. A friend (someday business partner?, Matthew Moo) suggested I modularize. I decided to create a singular experience to tap into the subconscious of The Many Individuals. I made This Summer Day, a multi-sensory experience that transports participants to unique locations created by individual subconsciousnesses. Generally, that location is a beautiful summer meadow, or beach by the ocean, or a lake in Northern Wisconsin, or a boat in that lake, or someplace new, never before imagined. It was great. And that led me to the lovely and incredibly talented Georgina Hahn and her Last Resort summer art fest in a gallery in SoHo at the end of August.

Then Georgina and my amazing brother Kyle collaborated with me on a once-in-a-lifetime chance to create an immersive Halloween show based on research we had (SEPARATELY) been doing on the Plague. We made This Great Plague and performed it 4 times an hour, for a total of 12 hours over two days, that’s 24 shows a night, people! It was part of BangOnNYC!’s Warehouse of Horrors in even-further-out Brooklyn, a huge EDM event with fabulous costumes, beats, and installations. Why Plague? Cuz the smells… Seriously, camphor and roses and apples to cleanse the house. Incense and cinnamon and minerals to cleanse the spirit, the smell of death- spemidine and putrescine and sulfur… Really, really great stuff. It was so much fun.

And now, here we are. I’m hoping to spread This Summer Day joy with a lot of people this winter. I want to combat seasonal depression. I want to offer an alternative to Wine and Paint nights. I want to get people talking and thinking about the power of scent and sound and touch in our vision-centric lives.

So I revamped the website, cuz the old one no longer represented my vision. So, glad you’re here.

Please reach out if you want to bring This Summer Day to your neck of the woods. All I need is a 12 x 12 foot area from you and I’ll bring the magic.
